If you’ve just defeated Pinstress during the Fatal Resolve quest, she leaves you with one final clue:
“A gleaming secret hidden at this mountain’s core.”
The problem is that Silksong never explains what she means. There’s no quest marker, no new objective, and nothing appears on your map to point you in the right direction.
Fortunately, the clue is much simpler than it sounds. In this guide, I’ll show you exactly where Pinstress is referring to, how to reach the hidden area using Silk Soar, and everything you can collect once you’re inside.
Quick Answer
Pinstress’ clue refers to a hidden area called Brightvein, located near the centre of Mount Fay. After defeating her during the Fatal Resolve quest, return to the central room in Mount Fay and use Silk Soar to launch through a hidden opening above you.
Inside, you’ll find a Magnetite Outcrop for your Materium collection and one hidden Shard after a short platforming section.
What Does “A Gleaming Secret Hidden at This Mountain’s Core” Mean?
At first, Pinstress makes it sound like she’s pointing you towards something massive hidden deep inside Mount Fay.
In reality, she’s referring to a small hidden section near the centre of the mountain.
You may have already walked through this room earlier in the game without noticing anything unusual. However, once you’ve unlocked Silk Soar, you can finally reach an opening high above the room that leads into the hidden area known as Brightvein.
Since the game never marks this location, it’s very easy to miss.

Requirements Before You Go
Before heading back to Mount Fay, make sure you’ve already:
- Reached Act 3
- Unlocked the Silk Soar ability
Without Silk Soar, you won’t be able to reach the hidden entrance.
Where to Find Pinstress’ Secret
Return to the central section of Mount Fay shown below.

Once you’re there, look directly above Hornet. You’ll notice a small opening in the ceiling with light shining down.
Stand underneath it and activate Silk Soar.

If you’re in the correct spot, Hornet will launch into the hidden section.
Pick Up the Magnetite Outcrop First
Once inside Brightvein, head to the left before doing anything else.
You’ll immediately come across a Magnetite Outcrop.
Interacting with it doesn’t unlock a new ability, but it does add Magnetite to your Materium collection, making it worthwhile if you’re aiming to complete every entry.

How to Get the Hidden Shard
After collecting the Magnetite entry, head back and take the right-hand path.
From here, simply follow the platforming route upward. The climb isn’t particularly difficult, but you’ll need to use Hornet’s movement abilities carefully as you make your way through the room.
At the very end of the climb, you’ll find a hidden Shard waiting for you.

All Rewards Inside Brightvein
If you’re expecting a secret boss or a powerful new tool, keep your expectations in check.
Pinstress’ hidden area contains just two rewards:
- Magnetite Outcrop (adds Magnetite to your Materium)
- One hidden Mask Shard
The rewards are fairly small considering how mysterious Pinstress makes the location sound, but they’re still worth collecting if you’re trying to complete your Materium or fully explore Pharloom.
Is There Anything Else Hidden Here?
From everything I’ve explored, the answer appears to be no.
The left side contains the Magnetite Outcrop, while the right side leads to the Shard.
Once you’ve collected both, you’ve found everything hidden inside Brightvein.
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The entrance is too high to reach using Hornet’s standard movement abilities.
What rewards are inside?
You’ll find a Magnetite Outcrop for your Materium collection and one hidden Shard.
Is this part of the Fatal Resolve quest?
Not directly. You defeat Pinstress during Fatal Resolve, but the hidden area is an optional secret she hints at afterwards.
What is the hidden area called?
The secret section inside Mount Fay is called Brightvein.
Final Thoughts
I actually like little secrets like this in Silksong. They’re easy to miss, and Team Cherry never tells you exactly where to look, which makes discovering them feel rewarding.
That said, if you were expecting an entirely new boss or some legendary upgrade after Pinstress’ mysterious clue, you might be a little disappointed. Brightvein is a fairly small hidden area, but it’s still worth visiting for the Magnetite Materium entry and the hidden Shard.
