That becomes a problem because Silksong throws a lot of contact damage at you. Sometimes you feel like you are attacking correctly, but the enemy still touches you because your needle range is not long enough.
Luckily, there is a way to fix that.
You can increase your needle attack range by completing the Broodfeast Wish and unlocking the Longclaw tool.
This guide goes through everything from the beginning: what tools you need, where to start the wish, how to farm the required organs, and how Longclaw improves your attack range.

What You Need Before Starting Broodfeast Wish
Before starting this wish, make sure you have unlocked double jump.
You also need specific tools because the Broodfeast Wish requires you to collect three different types of organs:
Seared Organs
Shredded Organs
Skewered Organs
Each organ type can only be farmed using certain tools.
You will need:
A heat-based tool for Seared Organs
A skewer-type tool for Skewered Organs
A shredding-type tool for Shredded Organs
This is the setup I used because it makes the farming part much faster and easier.
Best Tool for Seared Organs
For Seared Organs, you need a tool that generates heat.
You can use:
- Flintslate
- Pimpillo
- Wispfire Lantern
- Voltvessels
- Volt Filament
The best and easiest option is Flintslate.
If you already have Flintslate, you can skip this part.
If not, here is how to get it.
To get Flintslate, you need to access the locked door in Deep Docks.
This door requires a Simple Key.
If you already have a spare Simple Key, head straight to the locked door in Deep Docks.
If you do not have one, you can buy a Simple Key from the merchant in First Shrine.
If you do not have enough Rosaries, farm some around First Shrine first.
Once you have the Simple Key, go to Deep Docks, unlock the door, and follow the area until you reach Flintslate.
There is more to explore in that area, but for this guide, the main thing you need is Flintslate. You can always come back later for the rest.
Best Tool for Skewered Organs
For Skewered Organs, you need a tool that can skewer enemies.
You can use:
- Sting Shard
- Longpin
- Needle Phial
My recommended choice is Longpin.
Longpin is simple, easy to use, and works well for farming Skewered Organs quickly.
To get Longpin, head to Bellhart.
From Bellhart, proceed left.
From there, make your way toward the top-right corner of the area.
You will find a hive nest. Destroy it, and you will receive Longpin.
Once you have Longpin, you are ready for the Skewered Organ farming part later.
Best Tool for Shredded Organs
For Shredded Organs, you need something that can shred enemies.
You can use:
- Sawtooth Circlet
- Cogwork Wheel
- Delver’s Drill
- Conchcutter
- Beast Crest downward attack
- Architect Crest downward and Needle Strike attacks
For this wish, I recommend Cogwork Wheel.
It is the best and fastest option for this quest because it makes farming Shredded Organs much easier.
You can buy Cogwork Wheel from The Architect in Underworks.
If you do not have enough Rosaries, farm some in First Shrine first.
Once you have enough, go to The Architect, buy Cogwork Wheel, and you will have the final tool needed for this wish.
Bring Rosaries Before Entering Putrified Ducts
The easiest setup I recommend is:
Flintslate for Seared Organs
Longpin for Skewered Organs
Cogwork Wheel for Shredded Organs
Before heading to the Broodfeast Wish location, make sure you have around 150 Rosaries.
You will need Rosaries to unlock the rest bench and fast travel in the Putrified Ducts.
I also recommend turning your Rosaries into a string if possible, so you do not lose them if you die on the way.
This area can be annoying, so it is better to be safe.
To reach the Putrified Ducts, head left from the nearby area and go upward into Memorium.
From the rest bench in Memorium, head far right.
If you cannot go directly, you may need to go around from the top.
Once you reach the correct spot, jump to access a hidden passage.
Head right, break the wall, and you will enter the Putrified Ducts.
Unlock the Rest Bench and Map
Once you enter Putrified Ducts, head far right until you reach the rest bench.
Unlock the rest bench and fast travel first.
After that, head down, then go left to get the map.
There is a creature here that can grab you and take you upward. Let it grab you so you can reach the map location.
Once you get the map, the Putrified Ducts becomes much easier to understand and navigate.
After getting the map, go down again.
Break the wall and head left.
Be careful here because there are some large creatures in this area.
Keep moving through and you will eventually find the Key of Apostate.
It is placed in a hidden area inside Putrified Ducts, and honestly, it feels like Team Cherry just closed their eyes and randomly placed the key somewhere far away.
It looks like one of the creatures from the Slab died here with the key.
Why was it here?
You would have to ask Team Cherry.
After finding the Key of Apostate, go right, and you will meet the Huntress.
Talk to the Huntress twice to start the Broodfeast Wish.
For this wish, you need to collect:
15 Seared Organs
35 Shredded Organs
10 Skewered Organs
These organs can only be collected using the correct tool types we discussed earlier.
Since we already collected Flintslate, Longpin, and Cogwork Wheel, the hard part is mostly done.
Now we just need to farm the organs.
Best Place to Farm Organs for Broodfeast Wish
You can try farming the organs inside Putrified Ducts, but it is slow and annoying.
I tried it, and it is not worth it.
The best place to farm the organs is Halfway Home in Greymoor.
Go to Halfway Home and use the bench there as your reset point.
You can also equip pendants that help you farm Rosaries and shards at the same time, since you will be repeating the same enemy route multiple times.
How to Farm Skewered Organs
To farm Skewered Organs, equip Longpin.
From the Halfway Home bench, head right and kill the three enemies using Longpin.
These enemies can drop Skewered Organs when killed with the correct tool.
After clearing them, return to the bench to reset the enemies.
Repeat this a few times until you have 10 Skewered Organs.
How to Farm Shredded Organs
To farm Shredded Organs, equip Cogwork Wheel.
Use the same Halfway Home route.
Head right from the bench and use Cogwork Wheel on the enemies.
Using two wheels each time should make this very fast.
Return to the bench, reset, and repeat until you have 35 Shredded Organs.
This is why Cogwork Wheel is the best choice for this part. It makes the Shredded Organ farming much faster than trying to do it in Putrified Ducts.
How to Farm Seared Organs
To farm Seared Organs, equip Flintslate.
Again, use the same Halfway Home farming route.
Head right, activate Flintslate, and kill the enemies while the heat effect is active.
Return to the bench, reset, and repeat until you have 15 Seared Organs.
With this method, you can collect the Seared Organs quickly without wasting time in harder areas.
Broodfeast Wish Requirements
To complete Broodfeast Wish, you need:
15 Seared Organs
35 Shredded Organs
10 Skewered Organs
Recommended tools:
Flintslate for Seared Organs
Cogwork Wheel for Shredded Organs
Longpin for Skewered Organs
Recommended farming location:
Halfway Home in Greymoor
This is the easiest method because the bench is close, the enemies are easy to reset, and you can farm all three organ types in the same area.
How to Complete Broodfeast Wish
Once you have all the required organs, return to Putrified Ducts.
Go back to the Huntress and submit the organs.
After submitting everything, you will complete the Broodfeast Wish and receive Longclaw as your reward.
This is the tool that increases your attack range.
What Does Longclaw Do?
Longclaw is a blue tool that increases your needle attack range by 27%.
That might not sound huge at first, but if you are using the Wanderer Crest, it makes a big difference.
The Wanderer Crest gives you fast attacks, but the shorter range can make combat risky. With Longclaw equipped, your attacks reach farther, which helps reduce contact damage and makes it easier to stay just outside enemy hitboxes.
It also helps with platforming.
Because your downward needle attack range increases too, pogo jumps become easier and feel more forgiving.
Is Longclaw Worth Using?
Yes, especially if you use the Wanderer Crest.
The extra range makes combat feel safer and smoother. You can hit enemies from slightly farther away, which is extremely useful in a game where contact damage can punish you quickly.
It is also useful in platforming sections where downward needle strikes matter.
For Wanderer Crest users, Longclaw feels like one of those tools that quietly fixes a major weakness.
Longclaw With Witch Crest
For the Witch Crest, Longclaw works differently.
The multiplier is around 11% lengthwise and widthwise.
So while the effect is not the same as the Wanderer Crest’s 27% range increase, it can still help depending on how you are building your setup.
